I heard the scream come from the backyard. It was NOT a playful scream... more like a highly painful scream. A "mama come runnin'"scream! And that is just what I did! Avery was carrying my little man with a limp arm behind his back. I am very experienced in the broken bone excitement. When I took Landry, he looked up with those big, beautiful, black eyes full of tears (dramatic, I know - but my BABY was hurting!) and said, "Mama, this is really a REAL emergency!" I had to agree with him. I laid him on the couch, and got the ice pack that has been used for the previous 3 broken bones along with a hefty dose of Motrin. Within a matter of minutes, I had A & R change out of their muddy clothes, sprayed my hair, packed a few snacks because it was supper time, called Clark, called my parents, and was out the door to the doctor. I really am a pro at this - not by choice, but by necessity.
My little man was, as my father-in-law would say, a real trooper through this time. Landry insisted on walking into the doctor instead of being carried, because he is not a baby...I am thinking...but you are a baby! The diagnosis was a broken wrist at the growth plate. The nurse wrapped it in a soft splint and sling(L called it a slink), and told Landry not to use it as a weapon. Of course, he LOVED that! The doctor told me to call the Orthopaedics in the morning.

Because I have been there often, I knew that they would wait for 3 days for the swelling to go down and then see Landry. Those 3 days were absolute torture! Trying to keep Landry still, in a soft splint is not an easy task to say the least. I was a nervous wreck by Friday. After many mind changes and color discussions he FINALLY choose a green cast. He is very proud of it...and loves telling the story of how he fell out of the unzipped door of the trampoline "cage." The nurse discussed this with him until his cast had hardened. He promptly jumped/fell off of the table onto the broken arm. "Wow, I didn't even feel that, this thing really IS hard!" Thank goodness for that!
The nurse...who is quickly becoming a friend of mine since she has taken care of all of the other broken bones...said she hopes she won't see us again soon! She did compliment me on my well-mannered, handsome boys - and that of course, made my heart smile! If only they were handsome, well-mannered, and shatter-proof!

Ouch!~!! You did GREAT! Not to mention Landry! LOL Way to go!
