My husband is wonderful 99% of the time. I am not allowed to blog about the 1%. :) One of the many reasons I love him is that he is always willing to make a quick Wal-Mart run when we are needing a few things. He usually brings home a few extras that aren't on the list, and almost always stops by the floral area to get me a bouquet of fresh flowers. Wouldn't trade him for anything!
This week he brought home a vibrant, cheerful bouquet filled with yellow and hot pink flowers. They are very pretty! He told me that he wanted something extra bright since I had been blue lately. Sadly, my mood had been very blue, more like navy blue bordering on black. It was a week since my surgery and I was/am VERY ready to be back to my busy self again, but so far it is not happening.
I quickly opened my cheerful gift to get it in water and a vase. I was assaulted by a scent as I opened the plastic wrapping. Not a sweet flower scent, but a horrible, rank, garbage smell. Terrible, awful smell. Landry immediately started complaining and asking where the stinky smell was coming from. Keep in mind that his allergies are terrible, and he can barely smell anything - yet he could smell the flowers! Yes, they are really that bad.
So far, we have kept the stinky flower smell a secret from Clark. Each morning after he leaves for work, Landry or I set them out on the back patio to get the stinkiness out of the house. Every evening before Clark comes home, I bring them in and set them by the kitchen window that is slightly opened to hopefully let the stench out. I don't want Clark to think I am ungrateful, and I don't want him to stop bringing my Wal-mart beauties. Hopefully, they will give up and wilt soon, until then they will spend their days in the fresh outdoors and their nights cozy in the house. Maybe the Lord was trying to tell me that my attitude is not only navy blue/black but also stinky....hmmm, certainly something to think about...
I laughed out loud while reading this. ;o) I simply love your blog. =) Love the new look too! Beautiful! Praying for a speedy recovery. I know this has to be hard on you.
